Imran blanks Michael Angelo Mengorio 4-0

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Imran Shahzad blanked Philippines Michael Angelo Mengorio 4-0 to surge in group F of the 27th Asian snooker championship in the Indian city of Indore on Sunday.
Playing on table two in the last session, Imran was home 77-23, 67-41, 65-27, 59-33.
Runner-up of the last Asian spectacle, Mohammad Sajjad, had humbled Iraq’s Ahmed Hassan Hadi 4-1 in group A match the other day.
Third Pakistani Shahid Aftab had a dismal start as he went down 2-4 to Afghanistan’s Mohammad Rais Senzahi on the opening day.
The latter won the battle 52-62, 64-34, 63-56, 18-74, 56-43, 66-62.
Shahid, however, recovered to send Bahrain’s Mohammad Al Sheikh packing 4-0 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the organisers have revised the draws keeping in view lack of participants. Forty one players are now vying for honours in the annual event which concludes on April 30.
